Abstract

In today's advanced era, good access to transportation is highly necessary in daily life. Well-developed road infrastructure ensures that road users are more comfortable and can easily move from one place to another. Moreover, good road conditions bring positive impacts to the wider community. Therefore, strong, durable, comfortable, cost-effective, and well-targeted road pavement design is crucial. One such method is known as the Penetration Macadam Layer (LAPEN) road work. The Penetration Macadam Layer is a type of road pavement that uses graded coarse aggregates bonded together with penetration asphalt. This project aims to construct a pavement structure capable of effectively distributing traffic loads to the subgrade while providing a stable and durable road surface. The construction process includes subgrade preparation, laying coarse aggregates (Class A or B aggregates), spraying liquid asphalt (Penetration Asphalt 60/70 or MC-800) in accordance with technical specifications, applying a cover aggregate (chipping), and compacting using a tandem roller or pneumatic roller. The evaluation of the results is based on parameters such as density, layer thickness, and asphalt penetration level. The Penetration Macadam method has proven to be effective for light to medium traffic conditions and regions with limited budgets, resulting in a strong, stable road surface with good interlayer bonding. On this occasion, the writer presents the project titled “Implementation Method of Penetration Macadam Layer (LAPEN) Road Work on the Village Road Project in Dusun Anyar, Pondok Kubang Subdistrict, Central Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu Province.”
